How?
When dental problems present to the ED many of us have little experience of dentistry or Max Fax. A working knowledge of how to name teeth can help if referral is needed and when documenting your examination.
There are multiple systems for identifying teeth. They can be numbered 1-8 from the midline, but you must remember to include the quadrant the tooth is in!
Alternatively you can name the tooth. This avoids confusion from variations in numbering systems.
