Since the 1960’s LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) has been one of the most trending synthetic hallucinogens used at clubs and raves.
During 2018 in the UK – 47,000 extra people/year were using the drug. A rise from 0.3-0.4% on the previous year. (Drug Misuse 2017/18 – Home Office)
Some facts:
Street names: LSD, Acid, Beast, Blue caps, Blue drops
Route: oral, intranasal, injection
Onset: 30-90 minutes
Duration: 12 hours to 4 days
LOOK
Recreational Use
Physical symptoms: dilated pupils, tachycardia, tachypnea, mild hypertension, pyrexia, twitching, flushing, lightheadedness, hyperreflexia, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Psychological symptoms: acute psychosis, confusion, agitation, hallucinations.
Massive Overdose
Symptoms: collapse, respiratory depression, hyperpyrexia (Serotonin syndrome), coma, increased bleeding risk and rhabdomyolysis.
LEARN
MANAGEMENT (symptomatic)- Consider sedation, if agitated, with Diazepam/Haloperidol
- Treat hyperthermia
- Remember rhabdomyolysis!
